Thou shalt not scratch

Thou shalt not scratch

I itch all over today, bad enough I'm not at work. Should have left work early yesterday, but I played macho and stayed the last two hours.

And the reason is, we finally got that hardy pampas grass cut down, and it was full of dust and mold and other things that are bad for me, and by the time we were done my face and arms were red and itchy, and I was starting on hives. Blech. Hives are gone, I'm just cranky today.

I'm consoling myself with a can of Coke and Non-Adhesive Binding vol 3: Exposed Spine Sewings, by Keith Smith...we ran to Lawrence to Borders last night, where I got to oggle the first 5 books in the series before settling on this one to start. Fun stuff, fun ideas.

Remember... don't scratch! Hope you are doing well and keeping your hands on the book pages.

Read the whole book, took a nap with the cats, then started working (and finished, way late at night) on one of the bindings from the book: the caterpillar binding. It's very cool, and more functional than it looks. Opens up completely flat, so it'd be easy to write or draw in. Only drawback is the structure puts a bit more space between the signatures than I'd like, so when it's open between the signatures, there's about 1/4" gap between the pages. Not a big deal, and something I may be able to work out with practice.

Must remember to drop my books on the scanner this weekend, so I can post pics of what I've finished.
