I have washed (more than once) since we came inside, but I'm not going to get rid of the bottom-of-the-pond smell until I get time for a long hot shower.
I got two of my three water gardens cleaned out this morning. Which means oulling all the plants out and getting dead leaves off, bailing all the water out, cleaning out all the dead leaves and muck. And in the case of the first pond, removing the three dead frogs. (I suspect they got frozen over the winter.) Eewwwww.
I still need to divide and repot the water plants, but I can do that later. (That chore isn't as disruptive to the frog spawning as the general cleaning is.) I have way too many water lilies in each pond, so I either need to get rid of some, or make another pond. And the yellow flag iris is colonizing *everything* else in its pond,so as much as I enjoy it in that place, it needs a new, roomier home.
My first daffodils bloomed yesterday, the 3" tall trumpets whose name I've forgotten. They're tiny and sunny and they multiply well, so I've got a big cheerful patch threading through my perennials.
I really need to finish cleaning my beds, before the other daffs and bulbs bloom. Especially in the front yard--I didn't get that far last year, and we didn't get as good a view of the bulbs.
