Trifle is a lace hanky, with a stockingette center and feather and fan edge, worked in more of the leftover green Zephyr, on a #6 bamboo circ. Being the lovely silk/wool blend that it is, it was meant for ornament and for play, although we didn't get around to trying out the "play" part this weekend. Next week, however....

Now that the silly thing is blocked, I'll try to sit down one of these evenings and write up the pattern. It was about 6 hour's work for me, and I doubt it took more than 150 yds of yarn.

Oh, and the finished size is about 15" square.

Is that the one you started while we were chatting the other day? It is lovely. I need to go find some of this Zephyr so I can pet it and know what it feels like.

Yup.

You do need to find some of this yarn--it's almost as soft as By's hair. :)

Oh - and are those spaces around the stockinette from slipping the first stitch of each row to have a nice bit to pick up stitches with?

Did that sentence make ANY sense?

Actually, no. Those spaces are the increase points--the center is worked from one corner diagonally across to the other. For the first part, it's slip 1, yo, k across to next to the last st, yo, k 1, then slip 1 and purl back across. For the decreasing half of the square, I did slip 1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k across to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, yo, k2tog, then turn, slip 1, purl across.
