Last night was the first rehearsal in a while where I didn't come home cranky about Bob's bad playing. We actually sounded good last night, even on the things we indentified individually as "problem" pieces. Bob was sick last night. Maybe he'll miss RenFest too. Amazing the difference that made.
Met the guy they're looking at hiring to replace John yesterday. Seems nice enough, but then, so did New Boss. Turf Guy sat in on the meeting, radiating Bad Attitude. Hope Turf Guy makes up his mind, either to stay or go, but just makes up his mind and deals with it. I'm very sympathetic, and yes, Turf Guy has taken the brunt of the bullshit from New Boss and Maintenance Director, but sheesh. Some battles you just can't win, dude.
Reason #12 for why I love my government job: in November, I will be using 20 hours of vacation time, and 8 hours of floating holiday time, and getting 12 days off. How cool is that? That's two vacation days, 1 ordinary three-day weekend, 3 days off for Thanksgiving holiday, and the last work day of the holiday week, simply because it's silly to just go in for one day, then another (normal) 3-day weekend. By was teasing me about taking time off, to rest up for the 3-4 weeks off around Xmas.
New Boss and Maintenance Supervisor are off at a conference today and tomorrow, which means we can take it easy and relax. Not that I'm not working, I am, but slowly, and with breaks. I may pack my recorders tomorrow, do some practicing at work, since there won't be anyone here to notice.
No knitting to report today; work ran late last night, which left me next to no time at home before rehearsal, and I was too tired after rehearsal. The good news is the rain washed most of the crud out of the air, and I can mostly breathe again, so I ought to sleep well tonight.
