The rain gauge here at work already has an inch of rain in it, and it's still coming down steady. I think we'd had more at home when I left the house, there was a lot of standing water on the sidewalk. *shakes head* My main goal for this evening, if it's not raining, will be to bail the water out of my potted tomatoes. Again.

Got home very late from rehearsal....we played until 8:30, then I went to Betty's house to look at some of her wildflowers and ID a couple of things for her. Left her house at 9, stood in the driveway talking for another 15 minutes.....got home at 9:45. *yawn* Coupled with the rain, this looks to be a superbly unmotivated day.

Yesterday was good, though, even if we didn't get much done. Spent most of an hour digging some very nice scraps out of the print shop trimmings bin....Courtney took two full boxes home, I got three. Some text weight, some light cardstock, all the nice stuff. Got a bunch of that heavy linen-textured paper, that I'm told is acid-free. And as I was getting the last of the paper in the cabinets, By got home and told me he had four boxes of yarn from the basement of Robyn's mother's house. Woo-hoo, free yarn. All acrylic, but a much better color selection than I usually inherit. There were some crochet hooks and knitting needles in one box, including a very nice bone crochet hook.

Didn't manage to talk to Mom last night...I'm beginning to think she's got her phone off again (the parents of one of her students called her all spring, and Mom went from not answering the phone to turning the ringer off). Will try again tonight.

Revenge, in the name of anyone who's ever pulled up next to a stoplight and wished you could change the channel in the car next to you:

I pulled up to the stoplight at 4th and Spruce last night in Leavenworth, next to a carful of teeny-boppers blaring rap. I did the obvious thing: put the window down, and the bagpipes up! Definitely added to my collection of weird looks....cruising the main drag of Leavenworth, drumming on the steering wheel and head-banging to bagpipes.

Gee whiz

The National Weather Service site says that the first batch of storms ought to be exiting the metro area in the next hour or so, but the next batch (currently exiting Salina) should be here noonish. Good thing I brought knitting.
