May. 22nd, 2004 08:09 amHave I mentioned lately that I have the best hubby in the world?
When he got home last night, I was scowling at the computer, waiting for email to downlaod, and trying to summon the energy to go work in the garden. He enticed me into the kitchen ("I have something to show you, hon"), and presented me with a Summer Sunshine rosebush, a bottle of Dr. Pepper, a Hershey bar with almonds, and the words "I figure that since I talked you into staying with flowers and Dr Pepper and chocolate, you should get that for our anniversary." Awwwwww. *sniff*
And THEN he took me back to Walmart, to look at the other roses they still had for sale. I came home with Mr Lincoln, Tess of d'Umbervilles (an Austin rose), Betty Prior, Gold Medal, and climbing Golden Showers (because the name was too wrong not to plant that to climb the deck). And potting soil, but that's not as exciting.
So, I was planting in the garden until 9 last night. Put the Sunsprite and Summer Sunshine roses in the back yard, near the golden oregano and liatris (may have to move the liatris this fall). Tess went up in the iris beds, and Gold Medal will replace the climbing rose Brend bought for us as a "new house" present (last summer's drought and a cold winter got it). Not sure about the other roses yet.
Decadence is spending an evening drinking adult beverages and planting roses.
I ended up going to bed much later than I'd planned to last night, but in a much better mood. And I'm guessing that after I was in bed, the good fairy in our house snuck out to my car and left a package for me to find on the steering wheel. I opened it at work this morning; it was the bodhi leaf pendant I've been drooling over since the first year Robyn had them out. Ooooooooooooo. I predict that a certain tall, long-haired man will have a very good time tonight. :)
