Been too busy crafting and running around to post lately.

Let's see, Saturday...too windy for most of my projects at work, so I stayed in the office and researched spruce diseases, trying to figure out what killed the one out by College Blvd. (My best guess, in case you're interested, is spruce needle blight, a fungal infection.) Came home, started putting frames together to stretch the silk scarves to be painted.

Sunday, we lounged a bit, then By had to run out and get cat food, 'cuz we were O-U-T out of cat food, and that's just not allowed. Fed the fuzzballs, fed ourselves, then got gussied up and went to see Lyric Opera's performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We had REALLY good seats, 6th row from the front, in the middle....still not sure about costuming the fairies (a children's choir) as 40's and 50's ragamuffins, but Titania in 30's glam was hot. All in all, a good time.

We were bad and hit the new Half Price Books in Westport, while we were in the area, and came home with a modest stack. Couple of herb books, the second bookbinding book by Shereen LaPlantz, couple of fiction books.

Came home, found that the cats had knocked my frames off the table, and the scarf I'd finished stitching into the frame was undone. Scarf was fine, so the cats are still alove. Talked to Pet on the phone while I worked on it. Spent the evening stamping the tunic dress and the sports bra with leaves.

Made a run into the Rivermarket area for salvage on Monday. One of the contractors Byron knows had asked him if he knew anyone who'd be interested in flowerpots, because the contractor had just bought a warehouse with a bunch left in storage. He was tearing the warehouse down to resell the brick and timbers, and let me have what I wanted (or what I thought Donna would want), just to get it out of the way. We filled the back of By's truck, delivered it to a very happy Donna, and he left me there to do seed things while he went home to work on his costume.

And yesterday, I painted silk. Weeee! Lots of fun. Messy, but fun. I think I managed to get the paint thick enough to seal the edges when I cut out the design. **crosses fingers** Also overdyed the tunic dress and sports bra....those are done enough to wear now, if I don't get anything else done on them before Saturday. I'm about half done on the silk scarves, so probably 1/3 done on the jacket that they're going to be. (It's a sort of jacket-ish thing, not sure what to call it, you'll see when I finish it and get pics up.) I won't have near the amount of beadwork done that I'd hoped too, mainly because I couldn't do a lot of the beadwork until the fabric things were painted and otherwise finished. Oh well. Did finish the first piece of beaded fringe for the narrow scarf (14" long piece of beaded fringe), I hope to get a good start on the next piece tonight. *sigh* I hope to get a lot done tonight, which probably isn't wise, since I'm planting trees today, and I expect I'll be tired when I get home.

The morning's already been a bit sour....our Grounds Foreman had what passed for an interview yesterday (for the Grounds Supervisor job that's been open since the first of the year), and it didn't go well. From what the other folks are saying (Foreman called in sick today, and no one can blame him), the higher ups spent a lot of time talking about other applicants they liked. Not good. Grounds Foreman has been here for 16 years, and knows the place ridiculously well....and he probably won't stay if he doesn't get the Supervisor slot. At least one of the PT guys will probably leave, too. And the other maintenance supervisors have been saying all along that a new guy brought into that position won't get any help from them, because they're not happy with the Maintenance Director (new in his post, and responsible for this hiring hoo-rah) and how he's treated Grounds Foreman. And that's really going to screw up snow removal, because grounds does rely on the other maintenance staff to help get snow done in the time the administration expects it to be done.

I have a delivery of trees coming in today, so I'll be busy all day, along with all the part-time help I can scrounge. Oh, joy. Got to rememer to talk to the boss this morning too, see about that other tree order he'd pulled, see when he's planning to send that down to purchasing. (Still not sure why he pulled it, it wasn't coming out of the grounds budget. *shrug* ) And I guess we're all supposed to attend some fire-safety class this morning, which is probably the boss trying to make up for the safety meetings he's been skipping the past few months.
