Taking deep breaths now
Nov. 13th, 2002 09:19 pmFirst fitting of the corset tonight. By's been doing a cotton duck mock-up for fit first. Not too bad; we'll have to adjust it a little bit, but a pretty good fit for me and a commercial pattern. I just have less vertical distance between my curves than the pattern expects. It was more comfy than Brenda's corset that I wore to Renfest in Sept, even without the adjustments. The silhouette was impressive. And, I *can* sit down in the thing! Byron's so good at these things.
By's decided that with the current work schedule, he won't have time to make the leather one, so we've pulled a yummy teal and silver brocade out of the stash, and we're going to cover the mock-up with that. The really cool thing about the brocade is that there are little splashes of dark red in the pattern, which perfectly match the broadcloth we'd got to do a blouse for under the gold suede. Very convenient. It also matches the stole I'd knitted to wear during last Sunday's knitting binge, which means I don't have to run to Yarn Barn for a different set of colors to remake the stole. (Hey, wait a minute, this is good?? *frowns*)
Anyway, now that the drugs have finished kicking in, I'm going to go finish knitting my row....
