My favorite line: "You will need to keep the panties moist."

Always good advice!

Sure, what kind of pattern are you looking for?

lol, thanks for this, I am looking for an intermetiate potholder pattern that is rather origianl. I mean anyone can knit a 5x5 square, but this is for a knitters exchange and I want to be creative
If it had an apple design that would be a bonus.

Hmmm.....the best I can come up with while at work is Dishcloth Boutique (http://www.jimsyldesign.com/~dishbout/kpatterns/nojavaindex.html). There might be one in there. Otherwise...how comfortable are you with 2-color knitting? I'd go to one of the cross-stitch websites, yank a simple apple pattern, and knit it into a square, probably with a seed stitch border.

I'll see what I can find when I get home from work tonight.

I've had that very inappropriate thought in my head all day at work, thank you very much. It melds oddly with mulching and pruning trees.

Hee hee.

Important to keep the PLANTIES moist too!

Are y'all "enjoying" as much of this rain as we are? I keep expecting to see the dogs developing webbed feet. Or, rather, the *good* dog - the *bad* dog just barks from inside, and craps on the bathroom towel-rug when it's wet out.

I have been in giggles for the past few hours over this one. And been compelled to share with multiple acquaintances. Warning to the world: asking me if I knit is likely to get you a very interesting answer at the moment. For some reason "Why? do you have a sweet tooth?" is apparently not one of the expected responses to that question.

Tee hee!

The rain's been nice so far this summer....I've only spent a couple of days out in the watering truck, and I'm getting caught up on all the pruning that got neglected last year because I was always in the watering truck.

It's not hard, there's a decent tutorial on it here (http://knitting.about.com), and another in the techniques section of this page (http://www.knitting-and.com).

Alternately, you take the pattern done for 2 colors, and work it in all in one color, but knit the image and purl the background stitches. It's more subtle, and doesn't work well for complex images, but for something simple like an apple, it'd show up ok. And this technique gives a reversible image.

By the way, I'm still looking for the apple pattern. Seems like all the sites I remembered as having such a thing are either gone, or have completely changed their pattern offerings.

Just the other day, we had almost a foot of rain overnight. Flooding all around DFW. I expected this kind of stuff when I lived in Houston, but I never knew Dallas was subject to this kind of drenching!

We got 4" two Saturdays ago, and it looks like the rest of the summer will be more normal--very hot, very humid, and windy. *sigh* I do like the rain.
