Hey darlin', I know this is a bad time to ask you about red things, but what kind of tomatoes were you wanting? I can't find my list.

I did a little after-plant-sale "shopping" today while I helped Donna, and I brought home: Italian Gold (a yellow Roma-type), Gardener's Delight (small slicing/eating red), Cherry Roma (not a clue, but it sounded cool), and Brown Berry (it's new to Donna too, but she says it's supposed to be a small sweet cherry type, just a funny color). And basil, if you fancy a bit.

And if you want mintish things, I'll probably be digging stuff Sat evening, to take up to camp, so digging extra for you would be no prob. Did I mention I had lime-scented peppermint?

lime scented peppermint sounds intriguing...

i asked my mom to write down a list of all the stuff she is growing, just so you can have a real list of it, instead of just the typical, "it's green and grows in soil" answer that my non-plant person self puts out... I'll make sure to post it in my journal when she sends it to me.

Yes to all, thank you kindly! And basil, yes, we wants basil, doesn't we, precious? Yellow tomatoes for preference, but I like them all. If there's a yellow slicing tomato around looking for a home, I'd take it. I haven't prepped a bed yet, though--does that make a difference? I figured I'd dig a small bed in the back yard, probably sort of midway under the clothesline. Will I need tomato cages? I don't have any.

And mint too, yes. Mint. I could come out tomorrow, actually, if you would be home and wanted company, or I'm free Sunday as well, if that's not too late.

Well, I'm not planning on digging much today, but if you want to pop out for a bit for the tomatoes and basil, come on out. I have tomato cages I can give you for the summer; I won't need many this year.

I overdid it yesterday and Sunday; my arms and shoulders are tired of digging.

Would it be better to wait a while? I just don't want to leave you with a bunch of plants and risk them going downhill before I get them in the ground.

Up to you. The tomatoes and basil will be ok in the 4-packs for another week or so. The mint, if we stuff it into pots and toss some water on it now and then, will be fine for at least that long.

Or, you can come out, pet the mint, and show me your sewing :)

Okay. :) I'll be over in the afternoon, then. Not much to show yet, with the sewing. I stayed up cutting it out last night, but putting it together will take some time, especially while I'm figuring it out. I can draw you a picture of what it should look like, though. :)
