Long full weekend. Slept in on Sat morning--a wonderful indulgence--went to a firetending meeting for HSA, and spent the day finishing costume bits. Neither of us got as much done as we wanted to, but we were prsentable. And no, no pics yet--we forgot to recharge the batteries for the camera, so we had [livejournal.com profile] ranjtheobscure take some when we picked Cat up. We'll get pics up eventually.

The HSA meeting wasn't as bad as we'd feared it'd be, not as good as we'd hoped. ER is still doing some silly things with the firepits, but they're not doing *dangerous* things, like they were talking about before. That's good news. The group from Omaha was down for the meeting, and we went up and talked about how we were going to set up camp, and deal with the potential mud & muck in what's usually our kitchen area (they're calling for cool and wet for Heartland this year). We need to think about making time to go up to camp and do clean-up, trim trees around our campsite, etc.

Party was fun, though we didn't know many people there. The wine we took for our amusement, pear and spiced apple, went over well with the folks we gave samples to. Ten-yr-old homebrew will do that. We left late by our standards--1:30--and early by our hosts' standards (I've heard some people didn't leave until nearly 5am).

The Sock Report: Still chugging along on the !@#@$ spiral rib socks I started for myself. Just very very bored with the pattern and the yarn. Started a pair of boot socks for By at the party....a light reddish brown tweed, 50/40/10 wool/acrylic/alpaca, that I picked up on clearance a while back. Nice thick socks.

The UnSock Report: Nearly finished with the middle of the Stonington shawl (a square, middle-out Shetland shawl). I could have finished the middle section, if I'd stayed up another hour, but I'm trying to be good and go to bed before midnight on work nights. I've got new impetus to finish this project, because I found a pattern for a crescent-shaped lace shawl I'd love to make, and I'll need the needles this one is on.

No news on the job app, but I'm not expecting any for a few days yet. *crosses fingers* No news from Sis yet either...yesterday was her appointment. I plan to call her tonight and see how it went.

Seems Donna is at least acquainted with the outgoing supervisor at the OP Arboretum. From what Donna wa told, the lady was there 9 years (from when it opened), and was fired because she didn't get anything done. The rest of the story is that the directors didn't give her much direction to go on, and so when she did strat something, it was the wrong something. Sounds like some of the issues here. Ah, well. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that.
