(no subject)

Sis just called. They're taking Grandma by ambulance to the big hospital in Salina. Mom and Uncle M are following, Sis will meet them there.

Sis says Mom was crying too much for her to get much info out of Mom, so she doesn't know anything else. But, when I talked to Grandma last night, she'd said that her doc had been in to see her on her day off (never a good sign), and he'd been talking about calling to make an appointment for her surgery tomorrow, after the holiday. So this does not bode well.

Sis is supposed to call me once she knows more. I may be making a rush trip west, leaving By here with the kids.

Update

Heard from Sis a little while ago. Mom and Uncle M made it to Salina, Grandma's scheduled for surgery 8:30 tomorrow morning. (Something about waiting for her blood to thicken up somewhat, which isn't informative but I'm not getting the whole story.)

Still don't know if I'm traveling tomorrow or not.

Finally talked to Mom. Grandma is in decent spirits, because she's had a shot of morphine and half a can of diet Dr Pepper, and both have kicked in :) They've taken her off of her usual dose of blood thinners and given her plasma, so she'll be up for surgery tomorrow.

Mom said the usual stuff about everyone feeling guilty if I drove all that way, etc etc, so I should plan to come up when Grandma's been moved back to Lincoln for her recovery, and plan to spend an afternoon playing cards. So, I guess that's what we'll plan on.

On a lighter note, conversations with a toddler.....
