It's not that I haven't thought about updating since Friday, I just haven't managed to do it. Been busy enough, all terribly boring mundane things, that I kept forgetting.

Let's see...Friday night I got home, cleared a patch of sod (and added to the berm I'm building in the front yard), planted the ornamental grasses Courtney brought me last week, then planted most of the shrubs I've had in pots since midsummer. Still need to figure out where I'm putting the arctic willow and three more fothergillas.

Got a fair bit of stuff done at work on Sat. Watered lots, dug, potted, and moved things inside, pulled some weeds, worked a bit more towards rearranging things. (Forgot to move the mulch that Turf Guy delivered Friday, though. Ooops.) That evening, spent a little time with By, then sent him off the party with John and Cammie, while Tristan & I fetched movies and settled in for a quiet weekend. (For the record, the selection of rentals at the Blockbuster at Hwy 7 and 47th St sucks long stale Twinkies. They used to be decent. Must find new place for movies.) Between Sat evening and Sunday's movie fest, I finished the shawl for the mom-to-be in Omaha, and am waiting for one of the folks up there to send me her mailing address. Am humping on the afghan for the other gal, because the baby might beat me to the finish line.

Made a trip in to Lawrence last night with By to use that gift card the grounds folks got me. Another of Keith Smith's non-adhesive bookbinding books, 1, 2, and 3-Section Bindings, the holiday issue of Vogue Knitting, Winter issue of Knitters, and Beadwork. (By the way, [livejournal.com profile] classics_cat, remind me next time I see you. I think you'll like a couple of the sweaters in VK, they're that wrap-around style you're fond of.) Made a quick stop at Hastings to see if the new Interweave Knits was out, which is wasn't, and picked up Knitscene 1, which is a new knitting mag put out by the same publisher, aimed at a somewhat younger crowd. Not so hip as K1P1 (which I think is done by VK and Lion Brand), much more wearable, not as intricate as the projects in IK. Also came home with a short stack of cd's. Not the ones I was looking for, but stuff we were wanting anyway. Think I'll have to order the others--Anoushka Shankar might be a bit much to expect to find at Hastings or Borders.

As I said, thrilling weekend. Looks like I get to grade papers again for Donna today, which is good for a laugh, at least. And water. That's job security, that is. Not sure what else we'll manage to get done, with all the fuss and bother that usually goes around on Tuesdays.

It's not nearly spontaneous, but you might think NetFlix or any of the other video-by-mail services (WalMart, Blockbuster).

I think they all allow you to keep the movies indefinitely, and just send you the next ones on the return of the current batch.

It would take pre-planning, but at least you'd get the movies you want to see.

Jen and JC use Netflix, we've been thinking about that. We usually have to plan ahead for a movie weekend, so that's not as big a deal. I'd really rather not give Walmart or Blockbuster any more money, for various reasons.

Not Busy

Since you're not busy I might call and bug you when I go to lunch.

Haven't done that in a while.

But then again, I wasn't sure how that flies in your new position.
You could go hide and be devious at the old job. :)

Probably just as well you didn't call yesterday...I was elbow-deep in dirt about the time you take lunch. My hands STILL have ground-in dirt from yesterday.

Also not sure where things stand at the moment.

Don't want to make anybody uncomfortable.

Discomfort is relative: I'd rather a momentary discomfort now, in order to work towards fixing things, than worse in a month or two.

And if you weren't sure how things stood, call and ask, babe. I'll always tell you honestly.
