Not much to update

Things continue.

New Boss says there's a second one of our "why can't we fire him" ex-part-timers who's trying to get hired back on. This is the one who broke equipment and drove too fast all the time; rather like Damian the Terrible, only he's young and stupid, instead of 70 and pissy. Young And Stupid isn't likely to get rehired, either.

Looks like Robyn is taking that metals intern from the KC Arts Institute. By's a bit worried, there's not that much to be done by him, let alone an intern. And the guy's in sculpture, and doesn't seem to be familiar with a lot of the techniques and tools they use.

Richard keeps changing his mind about what he wants/needs for his coffeeshop cum bar, and changing the dates he needs it by. Last night it was a third rolling bar, because he seems to think he needs one to put at the front of the shop. *shakes head* By is much more patient than I am. I would have slapped him until he picked a plan and stuck to it.

Donna's 30-hr-a-week help is leaving soon (the end of this month or next, I can't remember). She was meeting yesterday morning with her boss to try to talk him into either continuing that position, or changing it to full time. When they originally made the 30-hr position, it was set up as a temporary one (and therefore not automatically up for a new hire when the first person leaves) because they had planned on switching to a full time position in a year or two. That was three years ago, and she's still lobbying for the full-time help. I don't know whether to wish for the part time position, so Courtney could get on over there and get more hours year-round than she gets with grounds, or the full time position, so I could move. The guy in charge of the KSU research facility at DeSoto wants Donna to start teaching more classes, and go back fo rher masters; if she did that, another full-time person would be critical. She's also pointing out to her boss that the biggest reason why I haven't been teaching is my hours--most of the hort classes they've asked me to consider teaching are night classes, and I can't teach until 9 or 9:30, get home around 10:30, and get up at 5 the next morning and do a 10-hr day. We shall see. Either way, wish us luck.

Please let By know that I hope that things work out. I know he has been getting less work over the last few months. Robyn would let him know if she was going to have to reduce his hours, wouldn't she?

As far as your own work concerns, is there any way that you can get an assembly of people who were not satisfied with this guy's work to approach your boss and "give evidence"?

Robyn has gave him notice in the past, but usually there's a steady decline in hours that goes for a month or two before she notices. She's very distracted lately, so I expect this time will follow the usual pattern.

As for the uber-annoying ex-employees, there's really no chance that New Boss will hire either of them back. The next guy up from New boss in my chain of command has said that Damian the Terrible has "a snowball's chance in hell of coming back, we just don't need him or his attitude around here." And New Boss remembers Young and Stupid from one of his trips to see the college before he was hired last May: he remembers Young and Stupid as the guy who was driving so fast across the field he was mowing that he couldn't stay in the seat. (Young and Stupid being a rather chunky fellow, that's saying something.) It's just amusing, that both were problems we actively tried to get rid of, and they both have the balls to reapply for the jobs they held before.

Is it having the balls to reapply? Or i it no one else is willing to give them the time of day since htey got fired from a cushy gub'ment job?

Good luck on the possible change in position. I think that you should hope forthe full time position and your transfer over. Much less idiocy when you reduce the number of people you work with. Not to mention, no more snow detail!

Looks like the greenhouse thing is going to go as another part-time temporary, but Donna's still lobbying for another full-time. Eventually, they'll do it to keep her quiet.
