Randomness

I received a 1946 Philladelphia-mint penny in change this weekend. Been a long time since I got a wheat penny in change; someone must have gotten into their parent's penny jar and spent stuff by accident.

Am 30 squares and a pile of granny-square centers into the estrogen afghan. Out of 169. I may make more and do a larger afghan, or more than one. I've got lots of yarn to use up.

I get to supervise the greenhouse today; Donna's out sick. I have permission to send J'nee home if she wears inappropriate shoes again, or gives me too much lip. I also have permission to give her the nasty jobs she usually balks at doing. And Donna hid the latex gloves (she goes through 5 or more pair an afternoon, because she's so squicked by getting her hands dirty in here), so she'll be extra grumpy about that. **rubs hands** Might be my chance to finally chase the bitch off.

Grading again

It's that 80-plant ID test I got to set up last week.

Some of the gems, this time around:

Castor beans, mistaken for ratiba (a red and yellow coneflower daisy)
Sweet alyssum (a 6" tall member of the mustard family, used for edging beds) instead of hardy ageratum, which is 3-5' tall, perennial, and blooms only in autumn
Catmint (Nepeta x fassenii) mistaken for Salvia greggii (one has grey foliage and blue flowers, the latter has dark green foliage and scarlet flowers)

**shakes head**

This isn't difficult material, folks.
