Can I start this week over?

Bad knitting day yesterday (people who post patterns without the gauge really annoy me), and now it's supposed to snow. Grrrrr.

Since the first try went through....

I'll actually do a real update.

Not much on the knitting front--still stalled on both pairs of socks, though I brought my brown Turkish socks with me today. Seems like work today will be sitting around waiting for it to snow. Blech.

The aran textured afghan is moving along; I'm about 20 rows away from doing the edging, now. 500 sts may fit on a 24" circluar needle, 560 will not. It's on 2 circulars, and I stop three times each round to push sts from one to the other. The price of art, I guess. I'm at about 600 sts around; the rounds are much slower now, because of the distance and the intricacy. But what's done looks really cool. I graphed out the edging pattern this weekend. Let's see if I can describe it--the edging will be done in short rows, that travel around the circumference. It's pretty wide, over 50 sts (trying to make up extra size in the edging, since I lack enough #8 circular needles to get the size in the body of the afghan), and will have 4 cables, then the usual garter sts section. So, that part will take some time--2 rows per sts on the afghan, so I'm looking at 1400 rows for the edging. I'm aiming for lap-robe size in the end, a little over 4' across.

Spring is coming--I got 3 plant catalogs in the mail yesterday. Richter's, whom I've not been happy with in years past, has enough new kinds of mint I may have to order from them again. And a rose-scented thyme--temptations abound.

Snow gripes

My coworkers and I have observed that the people who really *want* snow are those who've never done snow removal for a living.

(Bitching because I'm expecting to get a call in the wee hours of this morning, telling me to get up way too early to shovel snow 'cuz snow ain't allowed to fall on the sidewalks here.)
