The UnSock Report and Other Morning Things

The UnSock Report: the maple leaf shawl version 2.0 is now 17" deep (slightly stretched). This version, on larger needles, has that lovely scrunchy feel that garter stitch gets in a loose gauge. I've put 4 rows on it this morning.

Decided last night that I (1) need to get a #0 circular for the bit of lace I started Sunday, and (2) should only work on that project for an hour at a time. My shoulders nad hands get so tense, trying to keep it all even, and not drop those tiny stitches. Or worse, break a thread. The kittens jumped in my lap and broke the thread twice yesterday; I could have killed them in those moments, if I could have caught them. By said the breaks really don't show, and it looks very nice. The cotton takes on this lovely satin texture, in the large blocks of knit stitches.

I just realized, I don't have any idea how to block something like this--it's very fine and fragile. Maybe I should take it (when finished, of course) to Yarn Barn and ask them....

Picked up the Faroese shawl and got 1 1/2" (6 rows) done on it last night. For the record, going from #0 double points to #10 circular is not a good idea, if you're trying to rest your hands. Felt like I'd picked up a couple of tree trunks! I'm about 70 rows into this shawl, out of 192. And each row on this one is 2 stitches shorter than the previous, so it's starting to get faster per row. As long as I've put off blocking the Spiral Lace shawl, I may as well wait until I can do this one at the same time, as I'm going to go to Donna's house and use her roomy basement floor to do it, adn I might as well make one trip.

I've cleaned out four cabinets so far, and moved the yarn into the yarn storage By made for me in the craft room. I'm going to need more storage, I think. The cone yarn will have to stay in its cabinets for now, that's as space-efficient as anything else.

By didn't get to bed until almost 2am Sunday night, and 1am last night. Robyn's not getting that much sleep, I guess. *shakes head* By & one of Robyn's friends hung most of the show yesterday, and plan to finish today. They'll spend Wed and Thurs finishing pieces and getting models ready.

Fair warning, folks: I plan on not answering the phone this coming Sunday. We'll both need the nap.

By finished the braid-work on the pitchfork last night. (I know that sounds very strange, come to the show and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's cool.) He told me this morning that the plaiting soap I made for him works very well. Good thing I wrote the recipe down.....

Hmmm. Washer's stopped. Guess it's time to be productive this morning. Blech.
