Just had to share
So I'm sitting in the office for the last hour of the work day, knitting a sock and warming up. D, one of my coworkers (one of the ones who's still not learned to ask too many questions), says:
"Whatcha knitting" they recognize knitting now, versus crocheting, that's a good start
me: "a sock"
D: "you know, they sell those at the store now, already made"
me: "I know. They sell hamburgers at McDonald's, too, but I'd still rather cook for myself."
There was silence.
Don't think he got it.

I very well might.
By the way, we're sorry we were not there to help you last week. If I'd known how short handed you were, I wuld have called in sick. Work was singularly unproductive last Sat.
