Got the tall man off to work, lunch box and coffee in hand. Neither of us wanted to get up this morning.

The kittens are wrestling on the bed. One of the furry children puked in the food dish, right in the middle of the uneaten food, so I bet they're all hungry, but I need some caffeine in me before I clean that up. Yuck.

I got a 4" mari wrapped Sunday night; it took about three hours to go from styrofoam ball to finished mari (of a bit over 4 1/2" diam). Took another hour to do a C8 marking on it yesterday afternoon--that usually takes 15-20 minutes on a 3" mari. I'm doing a woven pattern on this, 24 layers per row, probably 10 rows to get complete coverage. 12 colors, three shades each green, blue, purple, and red. Actually, it's not a true woven pattern, the layers are just laid down in a specific order, so that the end result looks impossibly intricate. The only real difficulty, once you get this kind of pattern set up, is paying attention and keeping things in order. The pattern will do the rest.

Anyway, I have the first layer and part of the second stitched on this big mari, and already I have about 6 hours into it. That extra inch of diameter adds a lot more surface to stitch.

Also started the same pattern on a 2" diam mari, just to give my hands a break from the big one. That one's nearly done after 3 rows. It's in earth tones, warm ivory shading to amber, and the motifs will be outlined in a spicy red very close to the color of [Unknown site tag]'s new car.

By spent yesterday afternoon out in the garage, cleaning and working on the harps. He's got the soundbox from Brenda's old kit harp mostly done, he says. I'm looking forward to playing with those.

Didn't computer at all last night, except to pull up some temari patterns. Hands hurt too much after playing with the large (4 1/2" diam) temari I started. Note to self: only work on that thing for an hour at a time. It'll get done eventually.
