The UnSock Report
The UnSock Report: Did not finish the white kimono sweater this weekend. I tried, but...after three STUPID mistakes on the second sleeve (wrong placement twice, wrong yarn the third time) and having to rip the half-done sleeve out each time, I had to put it down on Monday. It IS nearly done now, though. Finished the second sleeve, put cuffs on both sleeves, did the seams (only two!), put it on.....damn. Made the neckline too wide, and it wouldn't stay on my shoulders. So, I had to add more little squares to the shoulders, and to fill in the back of the neck, so the back collar rides a little high, but not bad. I've got left front border nearly done, the right front will be a steady evening's knitting, then I have to decide about hem treatments. I can't decide whether to do a 1 1/2" wide garter boder in dark blue and green (matches the cuffs and front borders), or just do an I-cord edging across the bottom and be done. The extra length isn't essential, it just needs a bit to firm up and deliniate the bottom, and the I-cord would do that fine. Maybe I'll jsut do the garter border; it'd be fast to do and to rip, if I decide I don't like it.
Also been working on non-knitting projects. An article on herringbone stitch bracelets in a recent issue of Beadwork inspired me to pull out my bead boxes and play. Four bracelets later, I still have beads everywhere, but I'm still having too much fun to feel guilty about time away from knitting. I spent a couple hours last night with thread and a box of light green seed beads, stringing them so I can do a crocheted rope later this week. I spent part of my quality time yesterday pulling down bead patterns online, so I have some of those to play with too.
