I feel like I didn't get a weekend
Which is silly, because I indulged in books in between loads of laundry yesterday, but....
We did errands & recycling on Sunday, then puttered around the house for the evening. By worked for Terry on Monday; I helped Donna get ready for the plant sale (and brought home a small load of plants). After I got hom Monday, I cut some turf away from the edge of my shadier front yard bed, edged it with some granite pavers By scavenged from that warehouse, and planted the little Japanese maple. I added some of my little mystery hosta and some lily of the valley (because they're in a clump together), for ground covers. (Eeek, that reminds me. I'd meant to dig some of that for Donna this week. It'll wait unti lnext week, she's got lots on her plate right now.) Yesterday was laundry day. By worked for Terry again yesterday, and still has 3-4 hrs to finish that project. He hasn't gotten a straight answer out of Terry about when/how much he will be paid--I guess Terry hasn't paid some of his people in a while, so he won't talk about paychecks in front of the crew. This does not inspire confidence. By says he'll sic Robyn on Terry if it's a problem.
The new guy was here first thing this morning, getting an earful about one of the "problem children" part-time staff....which is good, we need to get rid of that guy. Same PT that told me I wasn't his boss, and he didn't have to do anything I told him, same PT who hit a car last week or the week before, same PT who ran a tractor out of fuel yesterday, and screwed something else up on a different machine, same PT who's told at least twice a week to slow the f**k down on the mowers. Grrrr. Anyway, the new guy doesn't seem too bad so far....Grounds Foreman says "only one thing wrong with him, he's got my job". The next 2-3 weeks will be interesting.
I guess the row that Turf Guy & I walked in on last Friday was Andrea yelling at The Other Dave, 'cuz he'd been very rude to someone who'd come in at the last minute, without paperwork, to get a vehicle....all approved, just hurried and the paperwork was an afterthought. Shop Steward said this morning, before The Other Dave sauntered in (at 6:20, must be nice), that Maint Supervisor would be talking with The Other Dave today. This isn't the first time Andrea's gotten this kind of complaint about him. So....The Other Dave mde a great first impression on the new guy today, first by being late, then by featuring in the "what happened last week" discussion.
Not much on the agenda today....a small tree to plant (the memorial tree for the CLEAR program), probably work on those virused gooseberry bushes today (pincushion duty). And staying away from inner campus, it's the "Campus Craze" today....bad music and too much fried food and people everywhere.
I'm going to try to get half of the bed below the deck cleaned out tonight....I'd like to get the basil I brought home in the ground, and that's a good basil spot. Need to plant that clematis Betty gave me, too, probably in the north end of that bed (the Clematis tangutica I grew from seed is in the other end). Argh...and I haven't gotten those tulips and hyacinths planted yet. Bad me.
