Been thinking

One of our houseguests made an observation this weekend: the pagan community, as a whole, doesn't participate in the larger community. And after the fight for Camp Gaea last winter, that's something we should all think about.

Ashe had in mind taking donations at Heartland and similar events, for the local shelters. Lady knows there are plenty of groups in the area that need the help.

WIth that in mind, I've been looking online at the charities that accept crocheted or knitted items, and what they accept. I found two that have local drop-offs: Project Linus & Warm Up America. Project Linus is focused towards infants and children in hospitals; they accept blankets and preemie-sized caps. Warm Up America is focused towards the people in homeless and women's shelters, and accepts complted blankets & squares for blankets, plus scarves and hats and mittens and stuff. I've got lots of yarn, and I've got the time in the winter (I'm not doing anything else at work).

Not because I'm a pagan, but because I've been reminded I'm also a member of a larger community.
